Restaurant Review: HOME dining café & gallery

Cute little Peaceful Restaurant…

During my winter break, my friend, Moe and I went to a restaurant called HOME dining café & gallery. Although this is located in the Omotesando, when you turn this small road, you will be in a different kind of atmosphere where you can feel that is more quiet, and peaceful. At first, you may be little confused where the restaurant is because it is hiding by some trees. However, if you find it, you will notice how the place is very relaxing. When you stand in front of the entrance, you will first notice with the signs they have and then you will see a small narrowed street where you will walk down to the door. When I was walking down to the entrance, I had the feeling both of excitement and curiousness. When you are at the door, you will be opened by a very polite waiter with his smile saying “welcome”.

When we went in the restaurant, I was little surprise that they had the seats not only inside of the restaurant but also outside. Even though we chose to be seated in inside, I was able to see that outside had more seats than inside the restaurant and they were all covered with greenhouse-like plastic house in order to be warm. Another thing that I liked about the appearance was that they had the decoration as a Christmas season. It was very nice and it was very comfortable to stay there.

Soon after we chose our seats and sat down, the waitress came and served us some water and the menus. They also served us a welcome drink, which was a plum juice. I thought that was very polite and made us feel very special.

After that, Moe and I ordered our lunch meals. While she ordered the Steak Hamburg plate with rice, I ordered the Boiled Seafood Cream Pasta. Our dishes arrived around 5minuites after taking the order. When I first got my dish, I notice some steam coming out from the pasta, telling me that it was just made by the chef. When I put the pasta into my mouth, the pasta was in perfect temperature, making it feel very creamy in a very good way. Also the seafoods they used were in perfect blend with the creamy pasta. When I taste this, only one word came into my mind and that was, delicious. The salad was fresh and the dressing was great. The bread was very crispy and crunchy, and it was perfect with the creamy pasta’s sauce. Moe also liked her meal, especially the hamburg, and said that she had a great time eating it.

Overall, I would rate this restaurant as a wonderful. I thought that the appearance, the service, the atmosphere, the meals, the whole restaurant was perfect. We really enjoyed eating our lunch there, and had some relaxing, comfortable time at this peaceful restaurant. I hope that I could go there again and would like to recommend this restaurant to my other friends :)

Restaurant Review (Visual)

Now moving on to video review.
This review is focused on a restaurant called “Little Shin Shin Resaurant” which serves Chinese (including Szechuan, Hunan and Mandarin) cuisines in Oakland, California. Throughout this video, the manager of this restaurant introduces and explains about the restaurant and shows the foods that they serve. I thought featuring a restaurant staff in a video was helpful when providing useful information about the restaurant.

He says that Little Shin Shin Restaurant was nominated as a best Chinese restaurant in the city of Oakland. They are not only making the foods very tasty and healthy but they are always taking very good care with the customers so that they could eat their food with enjoyment. From this video I could see that all the reviewers like this restaurant and have some their favorite meals to recommend.

After watching this video, I thought I wanted to go there and eat their dishes (if I am able to…lol). It looked delicious and healthy, and it made me want to try the dishes that reviewers recommended in this video!

Watch it if you are interested in it!

And that’s it for today! Thanks!

Restaurant Review (Written)

Hello everyone! And Happy New Year!! Its already 2015! Can’t believe it! I thought 2014 has just begun but it’s over and now we have to move on to 2015… Do you guys have any big goals for 2015? Well for me, I am still thinking about it…lol

Anyways, for the first posting for this year is about the restaurant reviewing. We were assigned to read a restaurant review from an article written by the professionals and we had to analyze it. We were also needed to watch a video clip that is also about the restaurant reviewing except it was very different restaurant.

My group was given an article called Dirty French on the Lower East Side.

As you could see from the title of this article, the reviewer went to the restaurant called Dirty French which serves, of course, French cuisine. For physical surroundings, he says that there are two eight-foot-high neon signs in the color of pink. Since this is located inside the hotel called Ludlow Hotel, it is decorated with a few cheap items, like “a wall-length antique carnival mirror shipped from France.” Although he didn’t really talk about the waiters and waitresses, but he briefly explained that the mood is created when the server comes to them and says in a tone of “laid-back tone that anyone can manage.”

He discussed different kind of dishes that he got and explained it with details. For example, he says that the dish called the mille-feuille is “a technical showstopper.” He described it like this: “an accordion of ribbon-thin king trumpet mushroom stems folded over and over. “ He says that it is a disorienting dish that will make our head spin in a good way because when he drag pastry-like food into a pool of green curry, he says that the dishes will change it into like Thailand.

He did not only discuss how the dishes were good but also he picks out some of the chef’s food that tripped into a wrong way and tasted it to excessive. He also gives some advice and suggests some new dishes in order to be a better restaurant.

In the end of this article, he says that this restaurant needs more time to grow its ideas if they are going to open three new original restaurants while refining their restaurant that they have right now.

I thought this was interesting to read and now I learned that how people review on the restaurants.

Video clip related to food book

Hello! How are you guys doing? The temperature is getting colder and colder! Keep warm!
And you now what?! It's already December! It is the last month of the year! Do you guys have any planing for this winter break? Well, I do! I going on a vacation with my family. Where I'm going? Well i will tell you that later... Moving on to my main topic for today's postings... :)

Well for today, I would like to talk about my food-related book. In one of my earlier postings, I talked about my book that I was reading, which was Bailey’s Café. However I decided to change my book because I wanted to read more facts about food rather than reading about fiction novel talking about food. I chose the book called Food Wars by Tim Lang and Michael Heasman. This book talks about how the future of food is to be shaped and discusses how the food policy should it be. It also shows how the way food is produced affects our own health, environment, and the national economies.  Here is the picture of this book:

Right now, I am reading the chapter about diet and health and talks about how foods could affected to our own health and turn into to heavy diseases. They also show the evidence to support of the framework as it relates to health, food policy and the dynamics of the food systems. They started researching by looking at the evidence of how the world’s diet is changing and facing the problems that each country has. They found out that rich countries suffer with heart disease, obesity, and diabetes, while poor countries suffer with hunger. As newer concerns, they found out that obesity and diabetes are rising, which they think that policies are not doing well on addressing about it.
Here’s a short video clip talking about increasing numbers of overweight children in developing counties. I was really surprised when I heard that the number of obese children is two times as high it was 20 years ago and 43 million children who are under the age of five were overweight in 2011.

Don’t you think it’s terrible?? I think we should take-care our own health and choose our food wisely and carefully in order to have well balanced-diet...

Thanks for reading! :)

Never Seconds

Hi! And thanks for stopping by!

It is already November and the year 2014 is almost over! Time flies by so fast...
Anyways, today I would like to introduce another amazing food blog called “Never Seconds”. But this time, it is written by a little girl! Her name is Martha Payne and lives in Scotland.

In the first place, she started her blog to tell her negative opinions and complaints about eating school meals at her elementary school. However, this blog were in national news headlines and became a big issue. Her school bans her to post some photos of her school meals on her blogs and, she had to shut down her blog. However, because of the many supports from all over the world, she continues to write her food blog and, she even gets school meal pictures from other countries, including Japan! She tries to share them in her blog so that many people from all over the world could read it.
Those pictures reminded me the lunches I had in elementary school. I didn't like the way they forced us to eat them all but I thought those lunches were somewhat healthy and well balanced.  About the dining in my school I go right now, I think they are doing okay on serving the meal. I can see that they are trying to serve different kinds of meal so that the students could enjoy eating their lunch. However I think the cafeteria is too crowded everyday and every student cannot sit down and eat. So in my opinion, they should make it bigger.

Right now, she is also doing a charity called “Mary’s Meal” to help the children who are having trouble getting food every day because of the poverty. She says that this fundraising is feeding many children and helping their lives a lot. She continues to try to have some more supports from all over the world.

I remember that this was broadcasting on a Japanese TV program and thought it was amazing. I didn’t know that a very young girl could also change and help other people lives and influence many other people in the world. Although she started her blog with her tiny personal reason, this could become a big issue and help change other people’s lives. I am very glad that I could know this is happening and I would also like to join and support her program sometime soon and do some donations…

Thanks for reading!
See you guys later!

Analyzing a Food Blog

Hi, and welcome back to my food blog!

For today’s posting, I would like to introduce a wonderful professional food blog called “The Domestic Man” that mainly deals with Paleo dishes. The creator's name is Russ Crandall, and he lives in Baltimore/ DC area with his wife and his son. Information that surprised me was that he had a stroke when he was 24. Because of this, he decided to change his diet into Paleo diets, which helped him a lot. That was when he started with his food blog which was in 2010.

In my opinion, his food blog was very interesting and, I thought it was an amazing blog. Each time when he introduces his food, he explains it with details so that the readers could understand the meals easily. Also the recipes are very descriptive, and cooking instructions are very clear and it is easy to follow. So, maybe I would even be able to make those dishes even though I am not a good cooker…J
I
think this food blog’s quality is very high. On every posting, there is at least one photograph of that specific meal and show the readers how it will look like after finish cooking it. For example, if you look at the posting called, “Blue crab and Chipotle Bisque”, you will see a picture of mixed veggies, which you could notice that it is middle of the process of making of bisque. You will also see pictures that are finished cooking. Don’t you think it looks delicious??!!

I personally think that his blog is very useful. People could easily visit his sites, and read his recipes. They could also try to comment on his blog and ask some questions about the meals. In terms of language, I think it was very easy to understand. Like I said before, each posting are descriptive, and easy to follow. I definitely think that this blog has a visual attractiveness!  When you look at his pictures, it will make you want to cook and eat them! It looks very delicious!!

I really recommend you guys to visit his blog and see the delicious Paleo dishes! It will make you hungry!!J

About My Food-Related Book

Hello, and welcome to my food blog!
I would like to begin my blog by introducing my food book that I chose for this seminar class. Right know, I am reading a book called "Bailey's Cafe" by Gloria Naylor. To give you a synopsis of this book, the most mythically real eating place, Bailey's Cafe, is a cafe which not everyone could find because it is not always there. It only exist when people need them. They have unfixed menu, the prices and service is optional. Throughout this book, each characters will going to be telling their tragic expreience that they had in their society at the cafe, and each sections will be different  stories. So far, I have only read few pages, and it is little hard to tell what is going on in the story. However, the story is becoming interesting and I am curious what happened in each character's tragic experience.
